CPD
Will Aquilla Training upload my CPD Hours to my Professional Body?
To keep costs to a minimum, Aquilla Training will not forward records of CPD activities to each of the relevant professional bodies for purposes of professional membership CPD requirements.
It thus remains your responsibility to upload your own CPD hours to your profile with your relevant professional body in accordance with their CPD Policy.
The Professional Body or the Employer can verify the CPD or workshop certificate issued by means of a unique QR code on Aquilla Training's website.
We will retain your certificate for a period of five years after which it will be destroyed.
Why should I do CPD?
It is a requirement from the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) which registers professional bodies and the Act that allows professional bodies to be registered, that all registered professional members must complete the Continued Professional Development (CPD). Each registred professional body will have its own rules and policies in this regard
Why are fees charged for CPD activities?
Registration is free, on our website.
Sometimes we do provide sponsored courses that might or might not be CPD related and can be accessed without payment.
Any person undertaking CPD should note that amongst other factors, a substantial amount of time is spent on research, development and accreditation of these CPD activities, hence, fees are charged for each CPD activity undertaken.
Aquilla Training tries to keep these fees as cost-effective and low as possible to assist you in obtaining your required CPDs.

- address any identified needs or gaps in:
-
- your technical knowledge in your field of expertise, professional best practises
- generic knowledge and understanding of the environment in which you render services, or manage or oversee these activities of your staff
- your knowledge and understanding of applicable laws; and should
- adequately take into account changing internal and external conditions relevant to the environment you operate in
Your CPD activities should be categorised to ensure you are meeting all of the above requirements depending on your professional body's CPD Policies.
Many professional bodies require certain minimum hours for certain categories, for example, 2 or 5 hours on Ethical standards etc.
All of these should be relevant to your level of education, registration and scope of practice.

What is a CPD activity?
A “CPD activity” is a verifiable activity accredited by a professional body that allocates an hour value or a part thereof to the activity.
Some professional bodies allow for activities performed towards a qualification and “product-specific training” to also qualify for CPD points.
Please study your professional body's policy on CPD activities to understand what is allowed and what is not.
You also need to clarify if they will acknowledge other professional bodies' approved CPDs.
What do I get after I have completed the CPD training with Aquilla Training?
CPD workshops:
Proof of Attendance and/or a Certificate of Completion will be issued after the completion of each CPD workshop activity feedback indicating your verifiable CPD hours as well as the professional body who approved the CPD.
Online training:

What are the costs for CPD activities?
The cost will vary and will depend on the activity you want to register for.
See prices in the prospectus and the website,
Is CPD a once-off requirement or is it ongoing?
Continuous professional development (CPD) is required to maintain the abilities, skills and knowledge needed for professionals. This requires ‘lifelong’ or ongoing learning, meaning that CPD activities must be undertaken every year, during the CPD cycle and are not a once-off requirement.
Have a look at your professional body's policy on CPD and the cycle your body has decided on.
Some Professional bodies work on an annual cycle from a specific date until an end date, others might have a two or three-year cycle.
How many hours will be allocated to the CPD training?
Each CPD activity is approved by an accredited professional body in the field of expertise and will be allocated a CPD hour value based on the duration, content, relevance and complexity of the activity and any assessment requirements.
How many hours of CPD must I complete?
This will depend on your role, professional registration level and the development needs identified for you by your employer and/or your professional body.
Obtain your professional body's Policy on CPD. All registered professional bodies must have a CPD policy before registration of the professional body.
These policies must be revied and updated from time to time, so ensure that you get the latest policy approved at the Professional body's Annual General Meeting (AGM).
How do I check if a CPD activity can earn CPD hours if it is not done through Aquilla Training?
A Professional Body must have accredited all CPD activities. ‘Professional Body’ is defined in a ‘body recognised by SAQA as a professional body for purposes of the NQF Act’.
Therefore, always check with the provider of the CPD activity to ensure that the activity has been accredited by a Professional Body (this can be any Professional Body as recognized by SAQA and is not limited to a specific Professional Body) and for how many CPD hours the activity has been approved.
The number of hours and the Profesional Body that approved the CPD hours are indicated clearly on each workshop/course prospectus/brochure on the Aquilla Training website.
Please ensure that you get a copy of your professional body's CPD policy and verify beforehand if they allow other professional bodies' approved CPDs.
Can I attend the workshops or do the online courses if I do not need the CPD's?
Yes, the workshop content is the same and the purpose is the sam
