All professional people practice their careers based on the foundation of the code of ethics for a professional society. After all, it is the starting point of the calling they pursue. In carrying out daily duties in their workplace, there is a constant need for development. To develop one needs to grow on a personal as well as professional level.

A vast array of professional bodies are recognised by the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA). The number of these bodies is growing steadily which gives the public hope for ethical and professional service.

Professional bodies require continuous professional development (CPD) and this is linked to points. Dr Barbara Louw, as Aquilla Training’s project leader, applied for CPD points for most of the online workshops with the Association for Christian Religious Practitioners (ACRP) / Council for Pastoral and Spiritual Counsellors (CPSC) and continuous teacher’s development points (CTPD) from the statutory body South African Council for Educators (SACE).

This means that Aquilla Training offers self-development and professional development workshops. On the workshop description and the certificate you receive after completing the workshop there is a clear indication of the amount of time spent in completing the workshop and the number of CPD or CTPD points awarded to the workshop. In cases where an application was submitted and we wait for final points to be allocated the system will show points are pending.

You are welcome to attend any workshop, irrespective of your professional or employment status. At the end of each workshop you complete, you will receive a certificate that you can download immediately.

Professional participants can do workshops for self-study or for CPD point recognition by the professional body where they are registered. Therefore, you need to familiarize yourself anew with the requirements, the code of ethics and the principles of your chosen professional body to maintain your professional focus and status. Most professional bodies and voluntary associations acknowledge the CPD points awarded by other professional bodies as long as the workshop topics align with the scope of practice of their members, affiliates and associates.

CPD training is available as either :

• F2F Workshops in your area. (These need to be arranged by the organiser or regional representative in your area).
• Online courses and Workshops on an ongoing basis. This workshop will be available on the website and can be registered for at any time when they are made available.

You can access the workshops once payment has been received and allocated to your account

This process may take a few hours to three business days depending on the payment method and when we receive all your required information.

In order to verify your identity for any CPD-approved workshops in your area that requires physical attendance, proof in the form of a valid ID document, passport or driver's license will be required.

A physical attendance register will be kept at all events and you will be required to sign in, attend for the full duration of the event, and sign out at the end of the event.

For online courses or workshops and approved activities, users are identified on registration, requested to upload a copy of their ID document onto the learner management system, and issued with unique login and password details.

Please allow four business days from payment received on initial registration for administration to be completed and access to be granted for an online activity/course.

Aquilla Training will issue a certificate of attendance for full attendance of a physical event and will issue a certificate of completion for successful completion (including an assessment) of any approved CPD activity (online course).

The certificate will state the date of completion, as well as the number of CPD hours for the activity, as per the notification from the relevant professional body, as well as the Professional body who approved it.

You will be able to access your details on our e-learning platform and print out your certificate once you have enrolled for and completed a CPD activity.

Note: You are responsible to keep your own records of certificates relating to CPD activities so that you can provide these records to your employer and or professional body, as required. We will maintain your certificate for a period of five years whereafter it will be deleted. Your employer / professional body can verify that the certificate is not copied by using the unique QR code printed on the certificate.

If you need a letter from your employer to confirm that you have attended a physical event, request this on the final day of the workshops in your area.
